producers say…

“Put simply; Richard elevates those around him. He does this by being an exceptional listener and speaking up always exactly the right time. If a session is ever at a crossroads, so often he has a suggestion, a comment or directive that helps everyone find their way. As a producer this is obviously pure gold and of such value to me. This is aside from the fact he can show up to any session, any style and know the chords, form, arrangement and parts and crush it all perfectly.

— Stephen Mowat, producer

“Rich is my favourite bass player to call for sessions. I’ve never known him to be unprepared, uninspired or unkind and all of those things matter equally. I highly recommend him for electric bass, upright and even fretless lol … something I never thought I’d want. His feel and ideas are impeccable.

— Anna Laverty, producer

It’s always a pleasure to be onstage or in the studio with Rich. He’s a positive energy to have around, and you can always count on him to pull a great baseline out of his arse.”

— Robert Muiños, producer

artists say…

“Richard somehow always knows what I need to hear before the most high pressure performances. I remember my first ever gig with a full band - which also happened to be live on national television. I was feeling completely intimidated by the environment and overwhelmed by the pressure. Richard gave me a pep talk that sparked a confidence in me I didn’t know I had, and it carried me through the entire performance. I’ll always be grateful to him for that.

As a musician he plays bass as though it’s an extension of his body - effortless, instinctive and deeply musical. He’s constantly bringing thoughtful ideas to the table whenever I get stuck, and his presence on the stage makes me feel supported enough to push that little bit further as a performer.

Playing music with Richard is always an honour, and having him in the band feels less like hiring a musician and more like bringing your favourite cousin on the road. A bloody treat.”

— Mia Wray

“Richard Bradbeer is that rare beast being not only a versatile and accomplished player but also a total professional on and off stage. In 30 years working as a musician he is the first player I’d recruit for any new musical venture. Can’t recommend him highly enough”

— Paulie Stewart, Painters and Dockers

“We love working with Richard. He is a brilliant bass player across multiple genres and an intuitive, intelligent, and highly regarded musician who elevates our singing every single time we have been lucky enough to record with him. He’s happy to scratch every itch and does whatever is needed to get the perfect take and always with a smile.”
